The idea behind this piece was to create an image out of words. I chose a popular musical artist, J. Cole for this project. The outline of his body is the figure found on his KOD album. I proceeded to recreate the figure using only black and white to differentiate details, with a radial white to gray gradient as the background.
I then took the titles of his songs and warped, twisted, and defied them to fit into the figure and the background. When creating a figure out of words I felt like an influential artist would be the best fit with titles of songs providing content for this project. I chose an easily legible typeface, so that no matter how distorted the words were, they were legible.
Viewers get the feeling that these titles and words hold some sort of important meaning as they visually seem to overwhelm the figure.
