This Blade Runner poster exemplifies what the movie was about in a cohesive manner. I started off by using different blending modes and layers on the main characters from Blade Runner, as well as blending different colored hues that reflected the cinematic aspects of the movie on top. I based the font for the title off the font that was used in the actual trailer, being the shared characteristic that the letters both had lines through them, with 2049 warped around the top of the poster.
I used an image of a bridge to represent the dystopian city that the movie takes place in, as well as the enlargement of Joi’s hologram as she appears in the movie centered above the other characters. The main character, “K” is located at the bottom but in the front, with the two other important characters located on his left and right. I chose the color palette as cooler hues, such as blues and purples, as this is how they appeared repeatedly throughout the movie.
I want viewers to have a sense of suspense as well as curiosity about the people and the plot of the movie when they look at this. I want them to recognize the celebrities within the poster as well as the reference to the original movie Blade Runner.
